Location:

The Calangute Grand hotel, that opened in April 2009, is conveniently located on the main Calangute/Baga Road. The location is quiet, yet still close enough to the main strip. The hotel is approximately a 5 minute walk from the beach and is just minutes away from the restaurants and shops. We think the location is ideal for the area.

Room Comfort:

The hotel offers 25 rooms, 16 of which are standard rooms. We stayed in a standard room and found the room to be big enough to feel comfortable. The room had 2 large balconies, a flat screen TV, a seating area, a mini fridge, a comfortable bed, a quiet air conditioning system and plenty of closet space. The decor was simple but nice. There wasn't a room safe; however, you could leave valuables at reception or with the manager. There was a full length mirror in the closet. The bathroom was simple but spacious enough to move around. We really enjoyed the nice hot shower. We thought the room was very comfortable and gave us everything (and more) that we needed to have an enjoyable holiday in this area of the Goa region.

At the time of our stay, there was Wi-Fi available in some rooms, or in the hotel lobby, for a small fee. The Wi-Fi was supplied by an outside source who serves some of the hotels in the area. The Wi-Fi has a 3KM range from the source so once you purchase it you have the flexibility to use it at other locations (even on the beach) as long as you are within range. We found the Wi-Fi service to be reliable and good.

Cleanliness:

The hotel is clean and very well maintained. Our room was very clean. The towels and sheets were fresh and clean. The bathroom was also clean and very well maintained. The mirrors and faucets were shinny. Daily room cleaning was provided.

Service:

The service was excellent! The hotel manager Savio and his staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The staff were very professional with a smile on their faces as we went in and out of the hotel. The manager running the hotel was simply wonderful. He was very professional, courteous and smart. We felt very welcomed and comfortable at all times. It was sad to leave because it felt as though we were leaving friends behind.

The hotel has a restaurant and a pool on site, along with a common area with couches and tables. There is also free onsite parking. The hotel is thinking of expanding and adding more facilities; however, at the time of our stay no decisions had been made finalized about the possible expansion.

Food:

The hotel offers different meal plans during booking. We decided to take the bed and breakfast plan (CP). The breakfast included a mix of Indian and Western food. We are not sure what the normal procedure was with breakfast because on one occasion we were provided with a set menu while on other occasions we were provided with a buffet breakfast. Nevertheless, regardless of how the breakfast was served it was good and filling. Made to order eggs were available every morning. Lunch and dinner are also available at a reasonable price.

Overall Value:

We truly enjoyed our stay here and recommend this small hotel. The rooms provided everything we needed to be comfortable and the hotel staff was great which made our stay memorable and enjoyable. The value was excellent.
