Greece, Hellas, officially known as the "Hellenic Republic" is the south-eastern most country in Europe, occupying the southernmost part of the Balkan Peninsula. Surrounded by water, (from the east by the Aegean Sea, from the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and from the west the Ionian Sea), containing diverse landscapes, pulsing party scenes, great history, excellent climate and so on, it's not difficult to see why Greece is such a popular travel destination. In fact, Greece comes in 15th place in the world rating of tourist destinations, since, according to the National Statistical Service of Greece, it receives more than 15 million tourists every year, after countries such as the USA, China, Spain and Great Britain.
